Indian rowers in repechage rounds

Indian men rowers -- Sawarn Singh Virk in single sculls and lightweight quadruple sculls team of Rakesh Raliya, Vikram Singh, Laxmi Narain Sonu and Shokender Tomar -- entered the repechage rounds at the Chungju Tangeum Lake Rowing Center here Sunday.

Single sculls rower Sawarn took seven minutes and 10.65 seconds to complete the 2,000 metre race in Heat 1. He finished second to Iran's Mohsen Shadinaghadeh, who qualified for the quarter-final stage with a timing of seven minutes and 8.21 seconds.

Later, the quadruple sculls team finished fourth in Heat 1, which was topped by a Chinese team, to reach the repechage round.

The Indian team recorded six minutes and 20.09 seconds to cross 2,000m mark.

The repechage rounds in both the events will take place Tuesday.
