An Indonesian man was on Tuesday charged in Malaysia with possessing materials related to the Islamic State (IS), the media reported.
The Indonesian man, 31, was charged at the magistrate's court in Pontian of the state of Johor with having a phone containing 196 images and 200 video clips on the IS militant group and its acts of terrorism, Xinhua cited Malaysia's state news agency as saying.
The accused allegedly committed the offence in Benut of Pontian at 12.05 p.m. on December 1, and he now faces a maximum jail sentence of seven years or a fine, and forfeiture of the banned materials upon conviction.
No plea was recorded and no bail was offered to the accused, who was unrepresented.
