The Army killed two militants in a gunfight on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Thursday, foiling an infiltration bid from Pakistan, military sources said.
"Alert troops noticed suspicious movements in Balakote area early on Thursday," a source said. "A brief firing exchange took place between the troops and the terrorists. Two intruding terrorists were killed while a search operation is going on."
The Pakistani Army on Wednesday violated the 2003 ceasefire in Nowshera sector of the LoC in Rajouri district.
"They violated the ceasefire around 7 p.m. using small arms, automatics and mortars. But our positions retaliated effectively and strongly," the source added.
