Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu Thursday expressed his disappointment over the railway budget for 2015-16, saying injustice was done to the state in sanctioning new railway lines.
He told reporters here Thursday night that he had been fighting for many years to get justice to the state in the railway budget but it did not yield desired results.
Naidu, whose Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is a partner in Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) central government, said they were hoping that justice would be done to the state at least in this year's railway budget.
Naidu, also the TDP chief, said he was expecting Visakhapatnam to be declared as a separate railway zone but it was unfortunate that no such announcement was made in the budget.
He said Andhra Pradesh should get many new trains and railway lines as his government aims to transform the state into a logistics hub.
Deputy Chief Minister K.E. Krishna Murthy also said injustice had been done to the state as neither it was neither sanctioned any new project nor was allocated funds to complete the pending projects.
He said the new state expected a better deal in the light of commitments made to the state in Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act but was not receiving funds from the central government to the expected level.
