Internacional kept alive their hopes of a top-four finish with a 1-0 victory over Ponte Preta in Brazil's Serie A championship.
Vitinho broke the deadlock with an 88th-minute strike at the Beira-Rio stadium on Saturday, reports Xinhua.
The result left Internacional sixth, equal on points with fourth-placed Santos with four matches remaining.
In Sao Paulo, Corinthians edged closer to the title with a 2-1 defeat of Coritiba. Jadson and Lucca were on the scoresheet for the hosts while Negueba netted for Coritiba.
Corinthians are now 14 points clear of second-placed Atletico Mineiro, who must win all of their remaining matches to have a chance of being champions.
In other matches on Saturday, Atletico Paranaense beat Avai 2-1 and Fluminense fell 2-3 at home to Chapecoense.
