Permaculture experts from around the world will attend the 13th International Permaculture Convergence (IPC) to be held here November 27 to December 2, 2017.
More than 1,200 delegates from across the globe will attend the IPC with the theme 'Towards healthy societies', being organised by Hyderabad-based environmental and developmental NGO Aranya Agricultural Alternatives, the International Permaculture Convergence Council (IPCC) and Friends of IPC (FIPC).
The primary objective of IPC 2017 is to provide Indian farmers an opportunity to get inspired and learn how their current challenges can be solved using permaculture principles, said a statement from organising.
The IPC team is hosting a crowd funding activity on www.milaap.org from May 3 till July 1, 2017. By achieving the target to collect funds of Rs 10 lakh, the team will be capable to organise travel and accommodation for farmers from different countries.
IPC is a five day residential, experiential learning forum and will be attended by those who have completed their Permaculture Design Course or have been referred by a permaculture practitioner. This will be preceded by a conference on November 25-26, attended by members of the public, policy makers and representatives of the permaculture community.
"At a time when natural resources are declining in the country, we need exposure to practices like permaculture amongst the farming and agricultural community while encouraging to use the resources in harmony with the ecosystem," said Narsanna Koppula, co-founder of Aranya.
The first IPC was hosted in Australia in 1984. These events have been serving as a platform to discuss strategy, education standard, research, and regional and global permaculture developments.
