Iraqi PM fires 26 army officers in reshuffle

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al- Abadi Wednesday sacked 26 army senior officers to fight corruption and incompetence among security forces, an official report said.

"The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi issued a decree to exempt 26 military commanders from office, and refer 10 others to retirement," Xinhua reported citing state media.

Abadi also appointed 18 senior officers in different top posts in the country's defense ministry, the channel said.
