Israeli jets on Monday shelled a military target in the Gaza Strip after the launching of a rocket from the Palestinian territory into Israel.
"Gaza terrorists launched at least one rocket at southern Israel. No injuries reported," Israel Defence Forces spokesman Peter Lerner tweeted.
The rocket launch on Sunday marked the 16th violation of the Gaza truce, in effect since August 2014 and came after three days of increased tension in the West Bank and East Jerusalem after the deaths of four Israelis in two Palestinian attacks last week.
Israel has increased security measures in those areas, where, according to Palestinian medical officials, clashes took place throughout the entire weekend, and restricted access to the Old City of Jerusalem.
