Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed has been admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) in AIIMS after his condition deteriorated, an official said on Wednesday.
Sayeed was "rushed in an air ambulance to New Delhi and admitted in AIIMS" last Thursday for treatment after he complained of neck pain for two days, and "after symptomatic treatment did not relieve the pain".
Stating that Sayeed is in the ICU since December 24, All India Medical Sciences (AIIMS) spokesperson Amit Gupta said: "He (Sayeed) is presently sick, requiring oxygen therapy but hemodynamically stable. He is conscious, alert, and is taking food orally."
Sayeed, who continues to be on antibiotics, antifungal drugs and supportive therapy, is being closely monitored by a team of experts, the spokesman added.
