In a bid to step up pressure for the resignation of Vice Chancellor Abhijit Chakravarti, the agitating students of Jadavpur University Tuesday decided to start a 24-hour hunger strike from Oct 17.
The strike from 6 p.m. Thursday continue till 6 p.m. Friday, students leader Chiranjeet Ghosh told media persons.
Jadavpur University Teachers Association (JUTA) has decided to bring out a rally in the university Thursday demanding the VC's resignation, said its secretary Nilanjana Gupta.
Despite shrill demands for his scalp, Chakravarti has not turned up at the University since classes resumed on Monday after Puja vacations.
The students have continued with their class boycott.
