A court in Bihar Wednesday acquitted jailed Janata Dal-United (JD-U) legislator Ran Vijay Singh in a murder case due to lack of evidence, police said.
Ran Vijay Singh has been in jail for nearly seven years in connection with a shooting at a polling booth in 2005 which killed a young man. He represents Goh assembly seat in Aurangabad district.
He was acquitted by the district civil court. Ran Vijay Singh contested the 2010 assembly election from prison -- and won.
