Monaco, Oct 31 (IANS/CMC) Jamaican discus thrower Traves Smikle has been suspended for two years for using a banned substance, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) announced.
IAAF Thursday said Smikle, whose sanction began from the date of his positive test at the Jamaican National Championships in June last year, will not be allowed to compete until June next year, reports CMC.
Smikle, who competed at the 2012 London Olympics, has said that he did not knowingly take any banned substance.
He was one of several athletes who tested positive at last year's Jamaican championships, along with sprinters Asafa Powell and Sherone Simpson.
Powell and Simpson had their 18-month bans reduced to six months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
