Leading Japanese maker of weighing and measuring instruments Minebea Intec on Tuesday expanded its production capacity at a new facility here.
"Our new premises offers more space for better production control and enhanced production capacity for future demand," Minebea India Managing Director Mohan Bhat told reporters here.
The $5.3-billion Minebea is also a global manufacturer of high-precision bearings and components and a supplier of measuring technologies.
Formerly known as Sartorius Intec in India, Minebea makes precision components and products for the information and telecommunications, aviation and aerospace, automotive and household appliance industries.
"With our new location, we have also moved closer to our vendors enabling more frequent quality inspections and a better logistics," said Bhat.
Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara unveiled the new facility at the Peenya industrial estate in the presence of state Food Minister U.T. Khader, Minebea Chief Executive Yoshihisa Kainuma and its Marketing President Peter Grimley.
The 65-year-old behemoth employs about 70,000 at its sales and service locations in 20 countries the world over.
"We provide products, solutions and services to the industry for increasing reliability, safety and efficiency of production and packaging lines," added Bhat.
The plant is equipped to manufacture and assemble industrial scales, weighing indicators and process controllers, mounting kits, belt scales and weigh feeders, truck scales and conveyors for metal detectors.
