Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa Friday inaugurated a multi-super specialty hospital set up at a cost of Rs.143.14 crore in a building originally meant for the state assembly.

The government said Jayalalithaa opened the 400-bed hospital through video conferencing from the secretariat.

The hospital has 14 operation theatres and a computerized health management system.

The previous DMK government built the building to house the assembly. However, the AIADMK government that assumed office in May 2011 decided to convert the building into a super specialty hospital.
