Janata Dal-United chief Sharad Yadav has dropped Shivanand Tiwari as its spokesman and appointed K.C. Tyagi in his place, party sources said Tuesday.

Tiwari will continue to be the leader of the party in the Rajya Sabha, they said, adding more spokespersons may be added in future.

Tyagi, a Rajya Sabha member, is considered a confidant of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Tiwari had often criticized Rashtiya Swayamsevak Sangh and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi while JD-U was in alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party.
