Production banner Focus Features has moved up the release of late athlete Jesse Owens's biopic "Race" from April 8, 2016 to February 19.
Directed by Stephen Hopkins, "Race" will star Stephan James in the title role. The project is one of several films in the works, chronicling the life of the famous track and field athlete. It is the first to have a release date, and earned strong scores at a test screening earlier, reports hollywoodreporter.com.
Apart from James, the film will also star William Hurt, Jeremy Irons, Jason Sudeikis and Carice van Houten.
Hopkins shot "Race" in Montreal and on location at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, where Owens won his record-breaking four gold medals in 1936.
