Airline major Jet Airways on Thursday said it has appointed Anita Naresh Goyal, the wife of company chairman Naresh Goyal, as an additional director on its board.
"The company has appointed Anita Naresh Goyal, as an additional director (non-executive and non-independent) with effect from April 8, 2015," the airline said in a regulatory filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
The move assumes significance in the light of capital markets regulator SEBI's (Securities and Exchange Board of India) norm for all listed companies to have at least one woman director on board.
SEBI had last year directed all listed companies to appoint at least one woman director by Oct 1, 2014 and later extended the deadline to March 31, 2015.
