JGBS hosts semi final round of global supply chain competition

The Jindal Global Business School (JGBS) of O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) here hosted the semi final round of "ISCEA Ptak Global Case Competition" which recognises supply chain excellence, the university said.

Out of the seven teams that were selected for participation in the final phase of the India round, the team from Xavier School of Management (XLRI) emerged as winner, JGU said in a statement this week.

The final round of the competition in which the regional winners from around the world will participate is scheduled to take place on December 8 in Las Vegas, US.

The International Supply Chain Education Alliance (ISCEA) awards the Ptak Prize for Supply Chain Excellence.

On the occasion of the India round of the competition at the Jindal Global Business School (JGBS), the institute also hosted a roundtable panel discussion on "Leveraging Blockchain and India's Preparedness" in which Carol Ptak, after who the the Ptak Prize Global Case Competition is named, was introduced by Professor Saroj Koul, Executive Director, Centre for Supply Chain and Logistics Management, JGBS.

"The benefits of Blockchain are huge. We have the potential and opportunity to make the most of it, irrespective of the industry we work in," Professor Rajesh Chakrabarti Dean, JGBS, said while addressing the gathering.

The discussion focused on India's preparedness for faster business growth and in ensuring transparency and cost-effectiveness for consumers.

"How many of us understand PPT - People Process Technology? The scope of Blockchain in payment systems is huge across industries," said Ajay Kapoor, Vice President - Procurement, HSBC Group.

'We all know what Blockchain is. But do we know what Blockchain is not? Blockchain is not bitcoin. We are all lagging behind in terms of technology and the expertise required to understand Blockchain. Let's remember Blockchain is disruptive and adaptation in India will be slow," said Anuj Garg, Director, DIY Blockchain Pvt. Ltd.

The Ptak Prize Global Case Competition is a global contest where top business schools in the world compete.
