Jharkhand assembly proceedings disrupted again over JPSC results

As the Jharkhand assembly proceedings were disrupted for the fourth day on Wednesday over the state public service commission results, Chief Minister Raghubar Das said an all-party committee will be formed to look into the issue.

A deadlock continues in the assembly over the results announced by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) last week.

The opposition parties are demanding cancellation of the results and a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the matter.

"An all-party committee will look into the issue. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Saryu Rai will head the committee. The state government will undo the wrongs of the previous state government. Based on the committee report, we will take measures to rectify the situation," the chief minister said.

Earlier in the day, a delegation of opposition parties in Jharkhand met Governor Draupadi Murmu and sought her intervention.

The delegation comprised former chief minister and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader Hemant Soren, state Congress president Sukhdeo Bhagat and other opposition leaders.

The opposition charged that 618 of the 2,085 students who appeared in the JPSC mains examination were rejected on technical grounds, adding that students belonging to one institute were selected in large numbers.

Claiming that the question papers for the mains examination were printed a year before, they asked what was the guarantee that the question papers were not leaked.

The opposition also alleged that students from other states were selected to higher posts for which JPSC conducted the recruitment exam.

The state government has made it clear that the issue is pending in the Jharkhand High Court and the government will go by the court verdict.

Meanwhile, students who failed in the mains exam protested in Ranchi on Tuesday, with police baton charging them. The students also protested in front of the Raj Bhavan here on Wednesday.
