The Jharkhand cabinet on Tuesday gave its approval to award a petroleum mining lease to the ONGC-IOCL consortium for coal bead methane in the state.
"Around 258.75 square km in Hazatibagh and 12.75 square km in Chatra would be awarded to the consortium. The consortium plans to undertake drilling of 74 wells for CBM and methane," cabinet secretary N.N. Pandey told reporters after the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Raghubar Das.
Twenty proposals were cleared in the meeting. The cabinet also gave its approval for the development of five roads in Ranchi.
The cabinet also decided to honour and felicitate the revolutionaries of the JP movement of 1974-77.
It was also decided to increase the dearness allowance of contractual employees of the state government from 72 percent to 113 percent.
