Congress legislator Videsh Singh died of a heart attack in Jharkhand's Palamu district late Monday night, his family said on Tuesday. He is survived by wife and two sons.
The 65-year-old suffered a heart attack at midnight and was rushed to Medininagar Hospital of Palamau district. He died around 1.30 a.m., the family said.
Singh, a legislator from Panki assembly constituency, was for the first time elected as legislator in 2000. He won all the elections after becoming the legislator except for once.
Jharkhand assembly Speaker Dinesh Oraon, Chief Minister Raghubar Das and senior Congress leaders expressed grief over Singh's death. He is the second legislator to have died of a heart attack in last three months.
Last year, BJP legislator from Godda constituency Raghunandan Mandal died due to a heart attack.
