"Fast and Furious 6" fame actor Joe Taslim has joined the cast of science fiction action film "Star Trek Beyond".
Taslim's role is currently unknown, but his character will be closely connected to Idris Elba's villainous character in the film, reports hollywoodreporter.com
In addition to the sixth "Fast and Furious" film, the Indonesia-born actor and martial artist has starred in "The Raid: Redemption".
The production of "Star Trek Beyond" is currently underway in Vancouver. Directed by Justin Lin based on a script co-written by Simon Pegg and Doug Jung, the film is scheduled to release on July 8, 2016.
Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Karl Urban and John Cho are back to reprise their roles from the last two "Star Trek" films as Kirk, Spock, Uhura, Scotty, Chekov, Bones and Sulu respectively.
"Kingsman: The Secret Service" star Sofia Boutella will be among new cast members.
