Bollywood actor John Abraham, co-owner of NorthEast United FC (NEUFC), Wednesday urged his Shillong fans to throng the Indira Gandhi stadium in Guwahati to show their support and solidarity for the Indian Super League (ISL) team.
"Our team is the youngest team in the league. I urge all supporters of NEUFC to come to the stadium and cheer our players," he said in a press statement on the eve of NEUFC's match against Atletico de Kolkata in Guwahati, which is approximately 100 km from Shillong.
"Your love and support will surely give them confidence and the additional incentive to spur them on to perform their best and win this Hero Indian Super League (ISL)."
John travelled to Shillong Wednesday to invite fans to watch the game at the stadium.
"I have come to Shillong as I wanted to come to the heart of our fan base. I want to personally invite all fans of Shillong to our home games as the team embark on a new exciting journey of the Hero ISL," the movie star said.
NEUFC is partnered by Shillong Lajong FC, the men's football club which participates in the I-league.
Larsing Ming, secretary of Shillong Lajong FC, is also the co-owner of NEUFC. They have also loaned coach Thangboi Singto and several players to the franchise.
