Karbonn Mobiles said on Friday it has set up a manufacturing plant in Haryana that will make 30 million mobile phone handsets a year.

The Karbonn plant -- which is the third as two manufacturing units are already operational in Noida, Uttar Pradesh -- has been set up in a short span of six months in Bawal town in Rewari district and has 22 assembly lines.

"With an aim to bring the benefits of smartphone telephony to the masses, the manufacturing facility will help us in providing customised products for Indian market at a faster time," Pradeep Jain, Managing Director, Karbonn Mobiles, told reporters here.

The manufacturing facility will help skill 4,000 employees to be part of its workforce providing a source of livelihood to the youth of the neighbouring areas, he added.

With an investment of Rs 2,000 crore over the next year, Karbonn Mobiles envisions becoming the largest mobile phone manufacturer in India. The ISO 9001 and 14001 certified facility is currently manufacturing 1.5 million units in a month, slated to increase to 2.5 million by the end of 2016.

Karbonn is also setting up a new facility in Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh which will have surface-mount technology (SMT) production and assembly lines, along with charger and battery units for the supplies.

Karbonn will also venture in accessories and battery manufacturing in September this year.
