The Karnataka government late Thursday accepted the resignation of woman police officer Anupama Shenoy, an official statement said.
"The state government has accepted the resignation of Anupama Shenoy as Deputy Superintendant of Police at Kudligi in Ballari district with immediate effect," the notification said.
Shenoy, 30, an officer of the Karnataka Police cadre, resigned on June 4 to protest against alleged interference in her work by Labour Minister P.T. Parameshwar Naik.
In the brief letter to the DGP, Shenoy said she was resigning for "personal reasons".
Acceptance of her resignation came a day after Chief Minister Siddaramiah and Director General of Police Om Prakash failed to persuade her to withdraw it.
Naik, a lawmaker of the ruling Congress from Hoovina Hadagali in Ballari district. about 320 km from Bengaluru, is also incharge of the backward district in the state's northern region.
When Shenoy was also transferred in January because she had put Naik's mobile call on hold, public outrage and attacks in social media on him forced the government to cancel it and reinstate her in the same post at Kudligi.
Naik, however, denied any wrongdoing and dared Shenoy to reveal when he had interfered with her work or in discharging her duties in his district.
