Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to devote time to Delhi Police to discuss the law and order situation in the capital or else hand over its charge to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.

"The Delhi Police comes under the prime minister. He has no time for Delhi Police as he has to run the whole country. I request PM Modi to take out an hour every week to discuss law and order issues in Delhi or he should hand over Delhi Police to us, and we will set things straight," Kejriwal said after inaugurating an 'Aam Aadmi Clinic' at Peeragarhi in west Delhi.

Terming the stabbing to death of a teenage girl "horrifying", he said: "Women are not feeling safe in Delhi as crime against them is increasing. Law and order situation in Delhi is deteriorating."

"Delhi Police is not under our government, but it comes under the central government, that's why we are unable to do anything," he said.

A 19-year-old girl, Meenakshi, was brutally stabbed multiple times by a man on Thursday in central Delhi's Anand Parbat area after she objected to his advances. She succumbed to her injuries in hospital.

The Delhi government has also ordered a magisterial probe into the matter.
