Days after his proposed visit to Surat was cancelled, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday said he will visit the Somnath Temple in Gujarat next week.
"Anandibenji (Gujarat's Chief Minister) got my Surat visit cancelled but Lord Shiva has called me. I will go to Somnath Temple on July 9 to seek his blessings. This programme is fixed," Kejriwal tweeted.
Kejriwal's two day (July 9-10) visit to Surat in Gujarat was called off on June 29 after the Veer Narmad South Gujarat University in Surat cancelled the booking of a hall where he was to attend an event.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader was invited by some leading businessmen of Surat to attend a function on July 10.
Alleging political vendetta, Gujarat AAP leader and Delhi MLA Gulab Yadav and state AAP president Kanu Kalsaria had said that the hall's booking was cancelled on the direction of the Chief Minister's Office in Gandhinagar.
