Rapper Kendrick Lamars "Humble" won the top prize of Video of the Year as well as the majority of the technical accolades, while singer Ed Sheeran walked away with Artist of the Year at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards here.
Pop star Pink was honoured with the coveted Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award here on Sunday, reports deadline.com.
Lamar took home six awards including Best Hip Hop, Best Cinematography, Best Direction, Best Art Direction and Best Visual Effects -- all for his track "Humble".
Bruno Mars ("24K magic"), Alessia Cara ("Scars to your beautiful"), DJ Khaled featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller ("Wild thoughts") and The Weeknd ("Reminder"), were also in the run for Video Of The Year award.
Artistes like Daddy Yankee and Luis Fonsi, featuring Justin Bieber ("Despacito") remix, Ed Sheeran ("Shape of you"), Shawn Mendes ("There's nothing holding me back"), Demi Lovato - ("Sorry not sorry") among others lost out the The Song of Summer trophy to Lil Uzi Vert for the track "XO tour llif3".
Sheeran won the Artist of the Year by beating artistes Bruno Mars, Kendrick Lamar, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd and Lorde.
The Best New Artist was bagged by Khalid, who was competing with artistes Kodak Black, SZA, Young M.A, Julia Michaels and Noah Cyrus.
Zayn Malik and Taylor Swift's "I don't wanna live forever (Fifty Shades Darker)" took home the Best Collaboration beating the hit track "Closer" by The Chainsmokers ft. Halsey among others.
The Best Pop award was won by Fifth Harmony ft. Gucci Mane for "Down", where they were racing with Shawn Mendes's "Treat you better", Ed Sheeran's - "Shape of you", Harry Styles' "Sign of the times", Katy Perry ft. Skip Marley's - "Chained to the rhythm" and Miley Cyrus's "Malibu".
Twenty One Pilots's track "Heavydirtysoul" bagged the Best Rock while the Best Fight Against the System award was won by artistes Logic ft. Damian Lemar Hudson for "Black spiderman" (Race & LGBTQ), The Hamilton Mixtape's "Immigrants (We get the job done)", Big Sean's - "Light" (Race), Alessia Cara's "Scars to your beautiful" (Body image), Taboo ft. Shailene Woodley's - "Stand up / Stand N Rock #NoDAPL" and John Legend's "Surefire".
