Social media in Kerala is abuzz over the ongoing controversy over Delhi police 'beef raid' at Kerala House in New Delhi, putting state BJP in a bind ahead of the two-phase local government polls less than a week away.
A picture of senior state Bharatiya Janata Party leader M.T. Ramesh has been posted online, showing him allegedly eating beef. An accompanying comment says, "Don't worry Ramesh, no Keralite will kill you. You have all the right to eat anything you like."
Picture of another Kerala BJP leader, K. Surendran, depicting him allegedly eating beef made rounds on the social media earlier.
The local government bodies' polls will take place on November 2 and 5. The results will be announced on November 7.
The state BJP is yet to open its account in the 140-member Kerala assembly while it has won around 500 of the more than 20,000 seats in the 2010 local government bodies.
