The CPI-M Kerala unit on Friday said its membership had gone up above 4.63 lakh, which was a record high for three years.
As many as 57,881 new members had joined the Left party, increasing its membership in the southern state to 4,63,472. These included 79,757 women members, including 17,238 new members.
The figure was released by Central Committee members A. Vijayraghavan and Elamaram Karim on the sidelines of the ongoing four-day 22nd state party conference here.
The CPI-M holds its state conference once in three years.
The membership during the 2014 Alappuzha conference was 4,05,591.
Party branches total up to 32,967 after opening of 3,126 new ones in the last three years. The local committees had gone up by 117 to total 2,193.
