US Secretary of State John Kerry will join the four-party talks over Ukraine situation scheduled to be held next week in Geneva, a statement from US mission in Geneva said Friday.
European Union, the US, Russia and Ukraine are going to hold a meeting in Geneva April 17 as part of diplomatic efforts to tackle the Ukraine crisis, the EU confirmed earlier today, Xinhua reported.
Kerry will travel to Geneva April 17 to join Catherine Ashton, the EU's foreign policy chief, for the meeting, according to a statement from US Mission to the UN and Other International Organisations in Geneva.
"Secretary Kerry will continue efforts to deescalate the situation in Ukraine and find a diplomatic path forward," said the statement.
During the EU-US Summit which was held in Brussels in March, the leaders of EU and US vowed to support Ukraine and "intensify sanctions" on Russia if things "further escalating".
