- Overall, 1.2 million perished on Indian roads in past decade

- 381 deaths and 1,287 injuries every day due to specific road accidents

- 80 deaths and 14 injuries every day due to road-rail accidents

- 73 deaths every day due to truck accidents

- 89 deaths every day due to two-wheeler accidents

- 19 deaths every hour or more than one death every 3 minutes

- Incidence of accidental deaths rose 51.8 percent between 2003 and 2012

- India's population grew 13.6 percent from 2003 to 2012, but rate of accidental deaths rose 34.2 percent

- Road accidents cases came down slightly by 0.02 percent in 2012 but rose 1.6 percent
