Reality TV star Khloe Kardashian's family is "happy" with her decision to file for divorce from former NBA star Lamar Odom as they believe she needs to move on with her life.

The 31-year-old reality TV star called off her divorce from the 36-year-old sportsman last year in order to help him recover following his collapse at a Nevada brothel, but has now filed the papers again.

"Everyone in her family is happy that she is moving on. She has all the support possible," a source told people.com.

"It was always the plan to go through it. The divorce has never been officially off. Khloe was waiting for the timing to be right," said another insider.

The source also said that Khloe "never wanted" to file the divorce and "it's not easy the the second time around either. But she knows it's the right thing for her".

"She took care of Lamar out of love, but she is ready to move on now. She wants to remove herself from the situation a bit. She wants to focus on her own happiness now," the insider said.

Khloe married Lamar in 2009 following a whirlwind romance and first filed for divorce four years later after discovering he had been cheating on her and taking drugs.

She has cited irreconcilable differences as the reason behind their split and has drafted in lawyer Laura Wasser, who is currently representing Johnny Depp in his divorce with Amber Heard, to help deal with her case.
