The kin of people from Haryana who were reported missing in the recent natural calamity in Uttarakhand will get a grant of Rs.10 lakh each, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda announced Thursday.

"Ex-gratia grant of Rs.10 lakh would be given to next-of-kin of each of the deceased and missing people hailing from Haryana during the recent devastation caused due to heavy rains, floods and landslides in Uttarakhand," Hooda said in a statement here.

An official spokesman said that 113 people from Haryana died or were missing following the devastation in Uttarakhand.

The Haryana government will give Rs.5 lakh grant from the chief minister's relief fund, while the remaining Rs.5 lakh will come from the Uttarakhand government.

The spokesman said the Haryana government has decided to adopt 25 affected villages of Uttarakhand for rehabilitation works.

He said that besides the state government, various social and non-government organizations (NGOs) had also contributed to the Haryana chief minister's relief fund to help those affected in the devastation.
