The constructions division of the diversified Indian multinational Larsen and Toubro (L&T) Monday said it bagged global orders worth Rs.4,006 crores ($6.5 billion) across various business verticals in December 2014.
The transport infrastructure business won the majority of the total deals valued at Rs.2,053 crores while the water and renewable energy business arm received Rs.729 crores. The power transmission business secured orders worth Rs.668 crores and the heavy civil infrastructure arm of the company obtained deals worth Rs.228 crores.
"A major order has been received from a reputed customer in Odisha for the construction of 48 km of railway lines for the transportation of coal from coal mines for their thermal power station. Scope of work also includes building a water pipeline along the railway line", the company said in a statement.
It has also bagged a National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) project for the development and up-gradation of the Bijapur-Gulbarga-Homnabad section of the NH-218 in the state of Karnataka.
Additional orders worth Rs.440 crores were also received from ongoing domestic and international projects.
On the renewable energy business front, the company's subsidiary in Oman received an order from Salalah Free Zone Company for the construction works of Adhan Phase 1A.
"The scope consists of building a potable water network, an irrigation water network, a storm water network, a sewer network, irrigation and firefighting reservoirs, pumping stations and control rooms", the company said.
The company's subsidiary in Saudi Arabia has taken up a construction order of 132 kV cabling and 132 kV double-circuit transmission lines in Buraydah and Hail areas of Saudi Arabia from National Grid.
"A repeat EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) order has been received from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited for the construction of viaduct and stations for YMCA - Ballabhgarh extension of the Delhi MRTS (mass rapid transit system)," the company said.
