Lab technician arrested for molesting patient in Gurgaon

A 27-year-old lab technician at a private hospital here was arrested on Thursday for allegedly molesting a 25-year-old woman patient, police said.

Bharat Kukreja, who works at the multi-specialty hospital in Palam Vihar area, was arrested on charges of molesting the woman during an ultrasound test.

Family members and villagers protested outside the hospital on Thursday when hospital authorities allegedly tried to shield the accused.

Some protesters blocked traffic near the hospital, demanding his arrest.

The woman from Carterpuri village visited the hospital with her husband for an ultrasound test.

In her police complaint, she said Kukreja sent her husband outside the room to deposit the hospital fee and molested her on the pretext of conducting a checkup.

Sandeep Kumar, chief of the Palam Vihar police station, told IANS that the lab technician has been booked on charges of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation, while the hospital management has also been booked for criminal conspiracy.

The woman also recorded her statement in a district court. Kukreja will be presented before the court on Friday.
