Syed Zaker Raheem, the brother-in-law of a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist based in Pakistan, was arrested here on Friday after his deportation from Saudi Arabia.
A National Investigation Agency (NIA) official told IANS on condition of anonymity that Raheem was deported to Delhi late on Thursday night and then handed over to the Telangana Police on Friday morning.
A native of Saidabad in Hyderabad, Raheem was on the hunt list of Hyderabad Police in a 2004 case in which he is accused of hatching a conspiracy to eliminate Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders.
He was then booked by police on charges of criminal conspiracy, promoting enmity between different groups on religious grounds, arms act and explosive substance act.
"Raheem was arrested by Saudi authorities in May 2016 from Riyadh where he was residing since he left India," the NIA official said.
The official also said that Raheem is the brother-in-law of wanted terrorist Farhatuallah Ghori who is an absconding accused in a 2012 terror case in Hyderabad.
