Bayer Leverkusen's Javier Hernandez will miss the next Bundesliga game against Darmstadt due to injury, the football club announced on Wednesday.
The Mexican international on Tuesday sustained "a torn muscle in his left gluteal muscle" during Leverkusen's 1-3 loss to Werder Bremen in the German Cup quarter-finals. Hernandez had to be replaced in the 57th minute and will be ruled out for the away clash against newly promoted Darmstadt on Saturday, reports Xinhua.
The loss of the 27-year-old striker is a blow for coach Roger Schmidt due to the fact that "Chicharito" provided overall 22 goals since his arrival in September 2015.
Leverkusen sit on the fifth place of the standings with a three-point gap from the third place.
