The Libyan interim parliament announced Thursday that a general vote will be held June 25 to solve the present crisis with the retired Major General Khalifa Haftar.
"It is decided that June 25 will be the date for the parliamentary election," Xinhua quoted Deputy Vice President of the General National Congress(GNC) Saleh al-Makhzoum as saying.
Libya's electoral committee earlier this week proposed an early general vote to solve the present crisis and raised four dates for the election, UN High Commissioner Abdul Hakim said.
According to the country's political transition plan, Libyans will elect a House of Representatives later this year to substitute the current interim parliament GNC, but the schedule has been delayed several times due to political upheavals.
