Life limped back to normal in Chennai on Tuesday as the sun shone since morning. The weather department however forecast rain in parts of Tamil Nadu.
The city had experienced incessant rain and an overcast sky during the last couple of days.
The weather department predicted heavy rain in Thiruvallur district and scattered rain over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
Low depression over Bay of Bengal would move towards south Andhra coast, resulting in abatement of rain in Chennai and adjoining areas, the weatherman said.
However, heavy rain was predicted for coastal Andhra Pradesh.
Meanwhile, rain relief work continued across Tamil Nadu even as DMK president M. Karunanidhi said the Rs.500 crore relief measure announced by the state government was "not sufficient".
His party on Tuesday announced a contribution of Rs.1 crore in the state disaster relief fund.
The government should make efforts to tap funds from the wealthy for relief measures, Karunanidhi said.
