A multi-starrer leaves little scope to give one actor all the attention, says "Shorgul" producer Swatantra Vijay Singh in reaction to reports that actor Ashutosh Rana has issues about not being given enough footage.
The film stars Jimmy Shergill and Ashutosh, who are coming together after 2003 film "Haasil". However, Ashutosh has relatively been out of the scene as far as the promotions are concerned. And this has reportedly caused differences between the two actors.
Commenting on this, Singh said in a statement: "We have ensured that complete justice is done to every character as every character is important to the development of the film."
"'Shorgul' is a multi-starrer and doesn't entirely depend upon one actor for its box office success and there's very little scope of giving one actor all the attention. However, as a film production house, we can't be creating separate campaigns for each actor as it's an expensive process.
"For us, Ashutosh Rana is as important as a Jimmy Sheirgill in the film or as any other actor in the film," the statement read.
Set against the backdrop of Uttar Pradesh, the film is based on intolerance and aspires to make audiences contemplate where humanity stands amidst the noise of religious, social, political and economic prejudice.
Co-directed by Jitendra Tiwari and P. Singh, it will touch upon grave events that have transpired in the recent past such as Muzaffarnagar, Godhra, Babri Masjid riots.
"Shorgul" will also star actors Sanjay Suri, Narendra Jha, Hiten Tejwani, Eijaz Khan, Suha Gezen, Anirudh Dave and Deepraj Rana.
The music of the film has been scored by Lalit Pandit while a song has been penned by former Union Minister Kapil Sibal.
