The Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) on Tuesday welcomed the government's decision to approve 10 per cent reservation for economically backward people in the general category in jobs and educational institutions.
Chirag Paswan, MP and Chairman of LJP Parliamentary Board, said his party was thankful to the NDA government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving the quota without disturbing the basic structure of the reservation.
"It is a big decision. LJP welcomes it. We wish a (constitutional) Amendment Bill be brought soon and passed accordingly," he told reporters here.
Chirag Paswan, son of Union Minister and party chief Ram Vilas Paswan, expressed concern that opposition parties may attempt to create confusion over the issue.
