Prime Minister Narendra Modi Thursday said that India's Look East policy has been changed into "Act East" policy.

"We changed Look East policy into Act East policy in the last six months," Modi said in his address to the East Asia Summit in this capital of Myanmar.

He added: "Last (East Asia) summits have made substantial progress. We are working together on several issues."

"We need to follow global norms for peace in the South China Sea," Syed Akbaruddin, spokesman of the ministry of external affairs, quoted Modi as saying in a tweet.
