The four-laning of the Lucknow-Sultanpur section of the Lucknow-Varanasi National Highway 56 is being bid again as the work was terminated due to non-achievement of financial closure and non-signing of state support agreement, the government said here on Monday.
"As regards Lucknow-Varanasi section, the work for four-laning of Lucknow-Sultanpur section of NH-56 was terminated due to non-achievement of financial closure and non-signing of state support agreement," Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Pon Radhakrishnan told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply.
"Bids for four-laning of Lucknow-Sultanpur section have been re-invited by NHAI (National Highways Authority of India) and received," Radhakrishnan said.
The work for four-laning of Sultanpur-Varanasi section of NH-56 has been awarded in two packages and is under implementation, he said.
On Bareilly-Lucknow section of NH-24, four-laning of Lucknow-Sitapur section has already been completed and four-laning of Bareilly-Sitapur section is under implementation, he added.
The work for four-laning of Lucknow-Kanpur section of NH-25 has already been completed.
