Lukas Podolski will miss a couple of European qualifier encounters due to an injury, the Germans confirmed in an official statement.
The Galatasaray striker will be out of action for the upcoming caps against Ireland and Georgia due to an ankle injury, the statement said on Tuesday.
Podolski suffered an irritation of the capsule in his left ankle, Xinhua reported, citing Germany's medical staff.
The German international, who scored 48 goals in 126 caps, left the team's accommodation in Frankfurt.
Germany sit atop Group D of the European qualifiers with 19 points followed by Poland (17 points), Ireland (15 points), Scotland (11 points), Georgia (6 points) and Gibraltar (0 points).
A draw against Ireland ensures Germany a berth for the EURO 2016 in France.
