Mahindra Group plans to expand its operations in different sectors in Telangana.
Officials of six Mahindra Group companies on Thursday met state IT Minister K. Taraka Rama Rao, Industries Minister J. Krishna Rao and Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma and discussed their expansion plans.
The expansion plans cover sectors like automobile, information technology, infrastructure, aerospace and defence.
It was a follow-up of Rama Rao's visit to Mumbai and meeting with Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra last month to explain investment opportunities in the newly created state. Mahindra had promised to send officials of various group companies.
The company officials said supply of vehicles to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) for garbage collection will begin soon. They also explained the plans to operate electrical vehicles carry passengers to and from Hyderabad Metro stations.
They also briefed the ministers of their plans to expand automobile unit at Zaheerabad in Medak district.
The ministers were also explained some housing projects taken by the group. To this, Rama Rao said Telangana government will soon be launching a scheme to construct double bed-room houses for poor and asked the group to submit a detailed report.
Rama Rao also invited Mahindra Group to consider Hyderabad for expanding their operations in aerospace and defence sectors. He pointed out that some major global players had already set up units in Hyderabad.
