Automobile major Mahindra and Mahindra Tuesday announced the upgradation of the side curtain airbag software on all of its sports utility vehicle (SUV) XUV500 vehicles manufactured on or before July 2014.
According to the company, the upgrade will be carried out free of cost for customers who will be individually contacted.
"This upgrade will be limited only to a software change and no parts will be replaced.
The proactive inspection, upgradation is in keeping with Mahindra's customer-centric approach," the company said in a statement.
"As part of Mahindra's endeavour to ensure a hassle free experience for its customers, the company is proactively upgrading the airbag software," the statement said.
The statement added that the upgrade is also in line with SIAM's (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturer) voluntary code on vehicle recall.
