Malayalam writer Subhash Chandran has won this year's Vayalar Rama Varma Award, Kerala's most prestigious literary award, it was announced on Saturday.
The award was announced by popular literary figure and Vayalar Rama Varma Memorial Trust president M.K.Sanoo.
Sanoo, a former legislator, also announced that from this year, the cash award has been cincreased from Rs.25,000 to Rs.1 lakh.
Chandran bagged the award for his novel "Manushyanu Oru Aamukham" which had also fetched him the Kendra Sahitya Award last year.
Author of quite many short stories, four of which have been made into films, he has in the past also won the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award and Odakkuzhal Award.
Chandran's award winning novel that got him the award had earlier been serialised in a weekly brought out by a leading media house. It was also a big hit on its publication in book form in 2010.
