West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh on Thursday attributed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's clean image for her Trinamool Congress storming back to power in the state with a landslide victory.

"The Trinamool won because of Mamata Banerjee alone. Although most of her party members have been proved corrupt, her clean image has been the party's biggest strength," said Ghosh on the Trinamool bagging 211 of the 294 seats.

Notwithstanding BJP's stringent attack on Banerjee during the poll campaign on the issue of corruption, Ghosh credited the Trinamool supremo for single-handedly taking her party to a mammoth win.

"While Mamata single-handedly steered Trinamool to victory, the people voted for her because they did not get an alternative. We have no inhibition in admitting that even the BJP too has not been able to make that place so far in Bengal," said Ghosh who emerged victorious from Kharagpur Sadar.

He also rubbished Communist Party of India-Marxist state secretary Surjya Kanta Mishra's allegation of a tacit understanding between his party and the Trinamool.

"BJP is not a fool to have any kind of understanding with the Trinamol. We had always taken it head on. Having lost badly, the CPI-M is looking for excuse and blaming us," added Ghosh.
