A shopkeeper committed suicide after killing his wife here, police said Friday.

In another suicide, an engineer with an automobile company was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his house, police said.

Jaipal, 45, a resident of a colony near DLF-5, hit his wife Mukesh Devi, 40, on her head after a tiff with her late Thursday when he returned home.

"After a brief heated argument with his wife over his drinking habit, he hit her on the head with some blunt object," a senior police officer told IANS.

"He committed suicide by hanging himself with the ceiling fan while his two young sons were on the way to hospital with their injured mother," he said.

She died on the way.

Bodies of duo were handed over to their family members after post-mortem examination.

In the second case, the deceased was identified as Sandeep, 22, of Indira colony under Sushant Lok police station.

He was unmarried, his father died last year and his mother was mentally upset after the death of her husband, said a policee officer.

Sandeep's younger brother told police that they don't know why he took the extreme step. He was the sole breadwinner in the family of three.

"He came back from work Thursday and hanged himself in his room on the first floor," the officer said.

No suicide note was found.
